Billboard 2: Get the Funk Out of Here

I skipped last week because HR Chart didn’t do a video last week. However, nothing has changed since I last commented. The top three videos are the same as they were in my first Billboard post. This stagnancy is typical, unfortunately.

1. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars This obnoxious song has been at #1 for 13 weeks now. 13 weeks! That means that it is the longest running #1 of this  decade, beating out “Blurred Lines,” another gem of a song. 16 weeks is the ultimate record to beat. This record is held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day”–a song about death that brings more joy to my heart than having to watch Bruno snap down the street at me in that salmon dinner coat. If you want some funkiness in your life, then please listen to “King Kunta” by Kendrick Lamar. This masterpiece slipped on the charts after only two weeks on it, while “Uptown Funk” stays strong. Travesty.

2. “Sugar” by Maroon 5

The fake giggling frenzy in the video grinds my gears.

3. “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran

Fave lyric: “And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways. Maybe just the touch of a hand.”

A few more comments: Natalie La Rose and Jeremih’s “Somebody” is a terrible, generic Whitney Houston rip-off. How has it made it to #10? Stop listening to this, people. Also, Meghan Trainor “Dear Future Husband” has made me loathe her even more. She’s not good, peeps, stahp!
